If i learn cello, will i experience stiffness and mechanical difficulties as a pianist?

hello everyone. i am pianist and i compose music for theater plays and short film. i also play piano in the church. but i also have this desire to learn string instruments like cello. (i seldom play guitar and b because i am afraid i might 'ruin' my fingers.) please enlighten me. i know that a lot of contributors here are very knowledgable and experienced in music. so please help me... thanks and Godbless...
